Brave confession from Girona manager after the draw with Real Madrid

Girona coach Michel admitted that Real Madrid may have been wronged after the cancellation of Rodrygo’s goal in the match that took place between them on Sunday evening at the Santiago Bernabeu in the twelfth round of the Spanish League.

This is Real Madrid’s second stumble in La Liga this season, as they tied with Osasuna with a goal for the same as well. Despite this, the white team maintains its position to arrange the competition, one point ahead of its closest rivals, Barcelona.

Real Madrid drew 1-1 with Girona in a match that witnessed controversial refereeing decisions, such as the cancellation of a goal for Rodrygo, the award of a penalty kick against Asensio and the expulsion of Toni Kroos.

After the match, Carlo Ancelotti got angry and expressed his anger at the penalty awarded to Ansisio, stressing that it was an “invention” by the referee, which led to the loss of two points in the La Liga campaign.

“I don’t like to talk about referees, but I will do it today,” he added. It wasn’t a correct penalty and that was obvious. The ball hit Asensio’s chest, not his arm.”

“I can’t talk about Rodrygo’s disallowed goal, to be honest. There are rules and they must be respected. But my comment will be on the penalty kick and it was not correct.”

“Because of that penalty mistake, it cost us two points. What I’m discussing is the invention of that penalty because it really wasn’t right and it was very clear.”

For his part, Girona’s coach, Michel, also spoke about the referee’s decisions and admitted that Rodrygo’s goal probably should not have been cancelled. In the norm of football it is a correct goal, but the new rule says no.”

He added: “It is a game, for me there should be no mistake, but the rule says otherwise and this is the situation in which the referee’s decision ends. The penalty awarded to Asensio, I did not see it, but it was correct because he raised his hand.”
