Toni Kroos ignores Ancelotti and praises another manager
The German, Toni Kroos, the Real Madrid midfielder, spoke about many things in a television interview that will be broadcast in full next Thursday. The Champions League winner talked about Guardiola, Casemiro and the German national team.
When asked about Real Madrid’s president, Florentino Perez, Tony said: “If we talk about Real Madrid, we must talk about Florentino. He is the man who signed me and received me with great affection from day one until today.”
Speaking about Perez, he added: “I never remember having a problem with him, we have always been very honest. He always defended me and gave me his confidence and in the end that’s what a player needs.”
On Casemiro’s sudden departure to Manchester United, he said: “I was surprised by Casemiro’s departure. It is true that the rumors started a couple of days before that, but there are always many rumors and often nothing happens. But when he told me I felt sad, because I started to remember all the years with him and the things we won together.”
On watching Germany at the World Cup from home, Kroos said: “I will not be in the World Cup, but I am sure that when I watch the matches in Germany I will want to play. But I have already decided to leave the national team after the European Championship.”
He continued: “First, because I wanted to spend more time with my family, secondly because there are now players who deserve to play more and I did not want the time to come when they would tell me that it was better for me to retire. I want to continue with full force and the club comes first.”
When asked about the best coach for him during his career, he did not choose his current coach, Carlo Ancelotti, and spoke to Pep Guardiola, saying: “Guardiola fought until the last day in order to convince me to stay at Bayern Munich. If I had to pick the perfect coach for me, it would be Guardiola. I really enjoyed my year under him, he has improved me a lot.”
It is worth noting that Toni Kroos’ contract will expire at the end of the current season and he did not agree to renew his contract with Real Madrid and asked the club to leave him until the end of the season to make a final decision.
